Over the last week I began watching a special that Ken Burns did in cooperation with PBS.

The Roosevelts; An Intimate History focuses on one of the most influential families, if not THE most influential in American history. If you are a regular reader, you know I have an affinity for Eleanor Roosevelt. I am half way through this series and have grown fond of the bulk of the Roosevelt clan. While I knew who they were and some of what they have done. I was consistently surprised and amazed at just how much these three have done. Much of what we know and love in modern day America can be attributed to these three Roosevelts.

Since it is Friday's three things...I thought why not focus on these three people? Three people. Three quotes.

Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt

Eleanor Roosevelt

Franklin Delano Roosevelt

More and more I come to the view that in a really tremendous world struggle, with a great moral issue involved, neutrality does not serve righteousness; for to be neutral between right and wrong is to serve wrong.

— Theodore Roosevelt

I could not, at any age, be content to take my place by the fireside and simply look on. Life was meant to be lived. Curiosity must be kept alive. One must never, for whatever reason, turn his back on life.
— Eleanor Roosevelt

In these days of difficulty, we Americans everywhere must and shall choose the path of social justice, the path of faith, the path of hope, and the path of love toward our fellow man.

— Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Short and sweet. In closing, if you haven't seen The Roosevelts; An Intimate History it is definitely worth the watch. PBS has been replaying it but you can also check out the website from PBS on the special to purchase the collection of videos. Click on any of the images to learn more.

Get action. Do things. Be sane. Don’t fritter away your time; create, act, take a place wherever you are and be somebody.
— Theodore Roosevelt

P.S. Just because I can, one more quote to get you inspired for our three day weekend. I hope you all have a great weekend filled with family, friends, good food and lots of fun.

Don't forget to come back Monday to learn all about Memorial Day so that we can all remember the real reason we have the day off!
